Donna Sternberg & Dancers presents In The Garden, a site-specific dance performance at the Miles Playhouse in Santa Monica.
Five dancers guide audiences through the garden as movement unfolds among pathways, plants, and hidden corners of the landscape.
Inspired by plant biology, this contemporary dance performance explores the unseen lives of plants through vivid physical imagery.
In The Garden continues Donna Sternberg & Dancers’ science-based performance series, which transforms scientific ideas into compelling movement and visual storytelling.
Following the performance, audiences are invited to stay for a short talk by landscape designer Jill Jacobson-Bennett, whose work focuses on sustainable plant design.
Join us for an immersive outdoor experience where dance, nature, and science meet.
Awe & Wonder is a captivating performance that bridges the worlds of science and dance, pairing three choreographers with three scientists for deep, creative dialogues. Each choreographer draws inspiration from their paired scientist’s field of study, crafting original dances that reflect, not replicate, the essence of scientific discovery.
This year’s theme, PFAS (forever chemicals), weaves through the work as each scientist and choreographer explores the topic through their unique lens, blending diverse dance backgrounds into a thought-provoking experience. For over 15 years, DS&D has pioneered this intersection, using the studio as a laboratory to transform scientific inquiry into movement.
