ANCESTOR'S VOICES
Ancestor's Voices is a dance theater project that delves into the field of epigenetics and generational inherited trauma. Partnering with scientists who study epigenetics and therapists experienced in dealing with trauma, we conceive and conduct workshops that shape the content of the new dance work. Through emotional storytelling, we trace our ancestral roots and bring their stories to life, exploring the impact of intergenerational trauma on our present lives, both physically and emotionally.

Join us at the Skirball Cultural Center for a powerful and immersive workshop series that explores epigenetics and generational inherited trauma, a project that connects movement, history, and the untold stories of our past.
Through active listening exercises, journaling, drawing, discussion, and movement exploration, these workshops invite participants to reflect on their heritage and express their unique connections to ancestry and examine intergenerational trauma. Open to all levels of movers and storytellers, this experience is designed to foster community and deepen our understanding of identity and belonging.
Wear comfortable clothing you can move in and bring a yoga mat or towel and water with you.
The material gathered from these workshops will be used to create a dance piece

While there are no open positions at the moment, Donna Sternberg & Dancers is always interested in hearing from talented dancers with strong technique and performance skills. If you'd like to receive notifications about future auditions, please click the button below. Our work is physically demanding, technically challenging, and dramatic. Ideal candidates are comfortable with improvisation, enjoy the process of discovery, and are passionate about collaboration. Performance pay and rehearsal stipends are offered.
