Borders is a site-specific piece, performed at the Wendy Museum. This work looks at who gets in and who doesn’t, separation of families and the human toll that borders create. The topic is particularly relevant at a museum dedicated to the Cold War, where borders were forcefully enforced, and this legacy continues to our present day with the borders refugees face.
The outdoor garden at the Wende Museum provided a compelling setting for Donna Sternberg & Dancers site-specific work Borders. The architectural elements of the space and the artwork on display created tangible and imaginary borders that the dancers navigated with varying kinesthetic and emotional responses.
