EXPLORING CLIMATE CHANGE THROUGH DANCE

warming is a site specific performance exploring the impact of climate change

Warming is an immersive experience created to highlight the beauty of Tongva Park while bringing attention to the pressing issue of climate change. As you follow the dancers through different areas of the park, each performance will delve into themes such as the vital need for water, predicted shortages, and the impact of wildfires on our foliage.

This program is presented in partnership with Sustainable Works, an organization dedicated to fostering healthy and equitable communities through interactive events, educational programs, and green business initiatives. After the performance, join us for a discussion on best practices to support environmental stewardship.

"Perhaps the most interesting part was watching the faces of random pedestrians passing by while on an afternoon stroll or run. Amusement, surprise and even fascination could be seen. What a great way to connect the public with dance performances"

Why This Project Now?

As climate change accelerates, we are confronted with a myriad of challenges threatening our planet.

Environmentalists warn of future water shortages, diminishing supplies, rising sea levels, and other dire consequences. Small island nations, despite contributing minimally to climate change, bear the brunt of its impact, facing the gradual disappearance of their lands.

"It was an inspired piece of work, and the communal feel in the audience added so much - people moving to allow wheelchairs to go forward, audience members sitting so that people behind them could see, people touching shoulders, touching arms, respectfully. Congratulations!!"
