Transit Dances III

Transit Dances bring the arts into the community, inviting people to use public transit to see Santa Monica in a fresh, new way through the lens of dance, exploring hidden nooks and crannies as well as more popular landmarks. Based on the successful Trolley Dances in San Diego founded by Jean Isaacs, Transit Dances creates a festival atmosphere that encourages people to shake off the humdrum of their everyday life, get to know their community and experience the advantages of taking public transportation. In these divisive times, art can create community and bring people together.

The dance companies represent the diverse ethnicity of the greater Los Angeles area and are masters in their respective dance forms.  We are thrilled to bring Nga Anahera Maori (New Zealand); Blue 13 (Bollywood); B. Dunn Movement and Donna Sternberg & Dancers (contemporary American) together for this unique community performance.

Metro Fare: Cost of a day pass is $7 and one way fare is $1.75. Audience members will be required to TAP their card upon boarding the system and that includes transfers to other Metro lines for up to two hours to complete a one-way trip.
